The WARN System
The Jackson County Health Department in collaboration with the Jackson County 911 Center utilizes the WARN (Wide Area Rapid Notification) System to notify citizens of an emergency or an important event.
Examples of emergency events in which WARN would be utilized are hazardous material spills, tornado warnings, severe inclement weather, health hazards, emergency medical clinics and other events deemed appropriate. This system will allow for a pre-recorded message to be sent to each landline phone in the county. This message will provide instruction for citizens to respond to the event.
This system utilizes land line telephone number provided by Frontier to contact citizens quickly and is capable of reaching the entire population of the county within twenty-five minutes. Although the system can contact wireless telephonenumbers, it is up to the cellular customer to request that their cellular telephone number be added to the system. If you would like to add your cellular number to the WARN system, please register HERE and click on the "WARN System Sign Up" tab on the left. Text messaging will also be available in the very near future.
